WHERE’S JOHNNY? Isakson’s disastrous votes hurt women and families

ATLANTA – While Senator Isakson has a long history of being silent at committee hearings and now is also skipping debates, on this anniversary of Women’s Equality Day, one thing we can count on is Senator Isakson voting against Georgia’s women and families.

Where’s Johnny?

  • Senator Isakson voted against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act.
  • He opposed the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act that would make it easier for some to challenge unfair and illegal pay disparities.
  • He has voted to block legislation to protect a woman’s right to contraceptive coverage and prevent employers from interfering in their employees’ private health decisions.
  • And he has voted to defund Planned Parenthood, which provides critical preventive and general health services to women, declaring that he was “proud” to so do.

Could his disastrous record for Georgia’s women and families be why Senator Isakson is skipping debates across Georgia?
