WHERE’S JOHNNY? Isakson touted a “Seat at the Table,”  & since was silent at 71% of the hearings

ATLANTA – In January 2009, Senator Johnny Isakson hailed his addition to the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, promising Georgians a “seat at the table.” However, Isakson didn’t say a word at 71% of his Commerce committee hearings. Who knows if he even bothered showing up? Where’s Johnny?

Isakson: “Transportation is our state’s single greatest need, and I’m glad Georgia will have a seat at the table on the Commerce Committee when the critical issues affecting highways, aviation and rail come up.” [U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson press release, 1/21/09].

On Tuesday, Jim Barksdale challenged Senator Isakson to debates about the economy in each of Georgia’s primary media markets (Albany, Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus, Macon and Savannah).

With more public polling showing that Jim is within single digits, will Senator Isakson tell Georgians why he was silent?

Senator Isakson has been a member of several committees during his Senate tenure:

  • Ethics: 110th - 114th Congress
