October 20, 2016. - Today U.S. Senate candidate Jim Barksdale proudly announced endorsement of his candidacy by several of Georgia’s Latino leaders and activists. The endorsement comes as advocates for the equal rights of Latinos and immigration reform know they will have a leader in Washington.
“Similar to every other minority community in Georgia, the concerns of the Latino community have been ignored by Senator Isakson,” said Jim Barksdale. “Senator Isakson’s continued endorsement for Donald Trump, who has hurled insults and repeatedly race-baited the Latino community, is an affront to Latino families and an attempt at marginalizing Latino voices in Georgia. I am thankful for these endorsements and will do everything I can to have their voices heard in Washington.”
“This election is a true watershed moment in American politics,” said State Representative for Georgia House District 96 Pedro “Pete” Marin. “This election has seen Donald Trump spew terrible vitriol towards demonizing Latinos. Senator Isakson continues to endorse Trump even after his continual attacks on our community. It is time we look for new leadership in Washington. Jim Barksdale will be more concerned with representing all of Georgia and ensuring that no voices are marginalized.”
“We have seen over and over again that Republican policies benefit only very narrow interests and leave everyone else out.” Brenda Lopez, State Representative-elect for Georgia House District 99. “Jim Barksdale will represent all Georgians and ensure that the concerns of the Latino community will have representation in Washington.”
