Monday, October 17, 2016 - U.S. Senate candidate Jim Barksdale announces several notable endorsers for his U.S. Senate run. These endorsements show millennials are leading the way in uniting the Democratic ticket up and down the ballot under the banner of Georgia Together as Georgia plays a significant role in deciding America’s next President and the makeup of the U.S. Senate.
“I am incredibly grateful for the endorsements and support of all of these trailblazing young Georgians,” said Jim Barksdale. “When we unite together to fight Washington special interests, Georgia benefits. We must all come together and stand up to the misogyny and hateful rhetoric coming from the Republican Party and their Presidential nominee.”
“I am endorsing Jim Barksdale because he understands the importance of investing in people over profit,” said Courtney English, Chairman of the Atlanta Public Schools Board Board of Education. “We must give our children the resources they need to grow up and be successful.”
“I am thrilled to endorse Jim Barksdale for Senate. Jim is the type of person we need in Washington to fight back against a corrupt campaign finance system that is more focused on immediate benefits for themselves than on the future,” said Jason Esteves, Atlanta Public Schools Board of Education Member for At-Large Seat 9.
State Representative for Georgia House District 58 Park Cannon pointed to Barksdale’s pro-LGBTQ positions in her endorsement:“Jim Barksdale is a strong ally of the LGBTQ community and will advocate robustly on behalf of all the underserved people in Georgia to fight for equal rights and against discrimination.”
“Johnny Isakson is stuck in the past at a time when Georgia is ready to move forward. Jim Barksdale embodies the progressive values that Americans of all ages want to see in the future,” said Dar’Shun Kendrick, State Representative for Georgia House 94.
