ATLANTA – The campaign for investment manager Jim Barksdale, Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, today responded to a false Republican Party attack on his stance to combat terrorism. Yesterday, the Atlanta Journal Constitution quoted Jim saying, “Terrorism is real and suspected terrorists should not be able to buy guns to kill Americans.”
Campaign manager Dave Hoffman issued the following reaction:
Distorting Jim’s thoughtful quotes from Georgia’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and words about gun violence is a new low, but I can’t say I’m surprised. Isakson knows the only way to keep his job is to distract from his own disastrous record.
Isakson’s war in Iraq cost thousands of American lives and added trillions to our debt while creating the power vacuum and chaos that gave rise to ISIS and made us less safe. He supports bad foreign trade deals and tax breaks allowing corporations to outsource our jobs and reduce wages. He even supports allowing terrorists on the no fly list to buy guns.
Jim Barksdale believes we have to protect ourselves at home and abroad, increase wages and opportunity, and stop these disastrous trade deals. It is time for new leadership in Washington.
